“Everyone needs to check out this band from Atlanta called ODIST. They play experimental progressive rock music. Their sound has elements of jazz (screaming guitar replacing screaming sax). They really push the envelope. They seem to have taken ISIS and The Mars Volta a step further. They have a “Wall of Sound” ala John Coletrane (there goes that jazz reference again). But don’t get me wrong, they are straight in your face hard rockers. Great, great rhythm section (lighting fast drummer that kicks a** and a real funky bassist). Check out their myspace or on youtube…just google them…odist or odist the band. TIGHT!”—www.afropunk.com

“I’ve attended several Live in the Lobby (WUOG 90.5) performances over the years. This was the first that sent me scrambling to the restroom in search of toilet paper to roll into makeshift ear plugs. The lone vocal mic was there so that Craig could introduce the band and the songs, and the first words out of his mouth were equal parts boast and warning: “We’re going to play loud music.” They did. It’s a mystery how Wilson’s drums retain that bass boat glitter and shine when the beating they endure suggests they should splinter into several thousand pieces, every single song. She broke a sweat. In the climate controlled confines of the lobby, she glistened. I imagine her to be the only person that ever worked that hard under the florescent lights at WUOG……The group’s unique brand of instrumental metal, combining a diesel-fueled rhythm section with esoteric guitar work, is captivating.’—-David Eduardo, http://flagpole.com, Flagpole’s Music Blog

Odist brought their high energy, experimental ultra-prog to 529 last week to promote their new album On the 49th Day. The songs are layered experiences doused in tones and beats that are rapid draws on the best sort of progressiveness you can find in music today. The songs are all instrumental and are the unique creation of 3 creative and innovation driven Atlanta musicians. Odist brings the good noise and its hard to find a band in Atlanta that can out jam this talented threesome or show up their colossal sound. Odist is just one of those bands that was bound to turn heads and cause chatter. They make music for those who aren’t afraid of pushing the envelope or crossing boundaries; leading the way in their own musical revolution.—beatlanta.com

“Before FMA (Free Moral Agents) stepped on the stage, the audience was introduced to a few bands that could have easily been mistaken for the main act. The first band up was Odist which is an instrumental three piece band consisting of a guitarist, drummer and bassist. This band reminded me a lot of Pelican which is also an instrumental band driven with hard bass lines and loud and wailing guitars. The bassist resembling Brad Delson of Linkin Park with his use of large headphones as he played his 6 string bass to the hard drum playing from their female drummer. The music spanned out to create a wall of music that sucked the audience in. There was no escaping the force that was Odist.”—http://ben-rocks.com/blog/free-moral-agents
